The Isle of Pines, so named because of its proliferation of Norfolk pines, has often been described as a little bit of paradise on earth. For whatever natural beauty the rest of New Caledonia boasts (and it certainly can boast a lot), the Isle of Pines just goes one better. For here you can use, without exaggeration, all the superlatives. The water is the clearest, the sand the whitest,the vegetation the lushest and so on.
